As part of celebrating National School Counseling Week , we thought this is the perfect time to thank our College Counselor, Mrs. Tyesha Hemmans, and celebrate the accomplishments of the Gold Ties’ college acceptances so far! Mrs. Hemmans, our seniors and parents have put in countless hours after school and on weekends to complete college applications. We’re so glad all their hard work is already paying off!
The College Center has posted a United States map on the bulletin board to show where all of the colleges are located that our Belles have been accepted to so far!
Take a look at the GOLD TIES ’18 college acceptance list so far:
California State University Chico
California State University Dominguez Hills
California State University East Bay
California State University Fullerton
California State University Northridge
Florida Institute of Technology
Saint Mary’s College of California
It doesn’t stop there either. Just last week, SMA partnered with The Regional Admission Counselors of California to host an out-of-state college fair during Catholic Schools Week and our students couldn’t get enough! Our Red Tie juniors were especially excited to get a jump start to learn more about each school and the academic majors offered. The event was a huge success! We can’t wait to see where our Belles go next.
Our Red Ties have made progress in the college application process by taking an SAT Prep class every Friday afternoon through a partnership with College Spring.
“CollegeSpring is dedicated to helping students from low-income backgrounds pursue the college educations they deserve. They work with students in their classrooms to help them increase their SAT and ACT scores and confidently navigate the application process—empowering them to demonstrate their true potential, and increasing their chances of attending a four-year college by nearly 50 percent.”
This Saturday, they’ll be put to the test, literally, by taking a practice SAT test on campus. Good luck Belles! We know how hard you’ve worked. Want to get in a little extra practice? Sign up to receive free daily Official SAT Question of the Day from The College Board.
