The purpose of the Health Careers Program (HCP) is to introduce students to the world of healthcare and medical occupations. HCP provides a multilayered four-year curriculum incorporating elements of history and the practice of medicine, medical terminology and technology, medical ethics, legal responsibilities and cultural diversity in health care.

In partnership with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), the HCP senior students participate in the Healthy Ties Program, a mentorship program with CHLA staff  to expand students’ knowledge of various health care occupations and opportunities in a hospital setting. Students participate in a variety of professional development workshops that include keynote addresses from various CHLA staff and mentorship development in an individual and group setting. In addition, students receive tours of different units at Children’s Hospital to observe hands on care for patients and their families that are served. In culmination of their mentorship program, the senior students complete a capstone presentation  that incorporates the knowledge acquired in the classroom, observations in the hospital setting and guidance from their CHLA  mentor. Our current senior class, the Green Ties, class of 2017 will be the 10th graduating class of the Health Careers Program!
